Anyone around London Bridgeish for a PDL tomorrow?
Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Adam and Eve PDL
OK, so lunchtime reminder. I am going to be eating and drinking here:The Adam and Eve
(77 Wells Street, just off Oxford Street, near the Plaza centre)
I'll be in there for 12:30pm
since it is, quite literally, about 50 steps from my office. It will probably be overpriced, so even if yr not eating there, come along for a drink or just to hang out and keep me company in my ridiculous quest
to p1ss away all my disposable income
to try every pub in W1. Current Mood: content

Not a Goth Pub
Some of you may not be familiar with my project
to try every pub in the W1 area for lunch, but there's a new pub
on the block and it must be sampled. The Adam & Eve
replaces the former Ben Crouch's Tavern (on Wells St, just off Oxford St near the Plaza) and it opened this past weekend. So I propose a lunchtime visit. Thursday
(17 Sep) seems good this week, so is anyone interested?
Sorry if it's not your payday (mine is next Monday) but being at the cutting edge of pub knowledge rather demands a visit.

Does anyone fancy a paydaylunch tomorrow, which is my actual pay day? I'm off work, so I can easily get over to the OC. Dim sum might be good, I think, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Breakfast Wed 25 March
A couple of weeks ago I suggested paydaybreakfast
. In all the busy activity at work, I quite forgot to remind people, so here it is.
On Wednesday 25 March at 8am
(that's this Wednesday), I will be in Lantana
, a lovely Australian-run cafe just off Goodge Street, at 8am
(there's a map link on that page).
Apologies to those for whom this is just too unforgivably early. I hope someone at least will be able to make it, but if not, I shall have all the breakfast myself. (They also do amazing coffee, by the way.)

Yes, I am here amongst you to put forward and NEW AND REVOLUTIONARY idea. Actually, it has already been discussed in the past by myself and atommickbrane, so it's not really new.
In fact, it's sort of a bit of a bvgger because it means waking up even earlier than usual. And if you're anything like me, that extra
few minutes of lying in bed before getting up, washed, dressed, et al., is a blessing that one would not willingly do without.
is a miraculous meal that I do not partake of enough. And Lantana
makes the best coffee in London that I have tried (and this is science fact, science fact fans). They also do a good range of breakfast options covering the spectrum of cereal / yoghurt / pastry / eggs and other cooked breakfasts.
So what I am here amongst you to ask, is would anyone be up for a PDB? I think Friday is already rather overloaded with activities myself, plus my personal feeling is that a PDB would be a good way to kick off a week. Though maybe an early Monday start would be a step too far
. How about a Tue or Wed morning? Would anyone be up for this at 8-8:30am ish on a Tue or Wed morning?

paydaylunch Fri 27th?
I haven't had a PDL in ages! I suggest next week Friday. Who wants to go? Any suggestions where? I don't mind as long as there is veggie food, and I can get there from my office in W1G within ten minutes.

Meeting at 1:30, not 1pm. Address and 2-4-1 voucher details here
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008
Hello! I am meeting tiny_tear
at this Pizza Express
on Thursday, 4th December. They have a two for one
offer on. Anybody want to join us? I Carla and I could do 1 or 1:30pm. Matters not to me! I have a meeting at 3:30pm so can do either one.

OK OK, so I know some of you went out to Clerkenwell for lunch the other day. But, today is actually payday
(for me, anyway!), I have seriously eff all to do, and this sounds quite like... a payday lunch thing!
So er - does anyone fancy it? I'd suggest whereever we go we get there at eg, 12.15, given the fact I am ACTUALLY DYING OF HUNGER ALREADY.
Open to options, Goodge Street/Fitzrovia/Gower Street-ish area all good. No further west than Oxford Circus, no further east than Russel Square. That gives us a wide pot!
Lunch lunch lunch.

PDL Thursday plans
Work, eh? Bah. Anyway, as per previously advertised paydaylunch
plans, myself and nou
are attending The Gunmakers
in Clerkenwell tomorrow, Thursday 27 November, for lunch. A few of you indicated interest in attending, so we will be convening there at 1:30pm.Here is a picture of the pub. It's located at 13 Eyre Street Hill, off Clerkenwell Road.
Here is a map [Streetmap link
] with an arrow pointing to its location. One of the reasons we have chosen this location is because the publican writes an excellent blog about running his pub. It's mostly just an actual well-written blog, but with lots of interesting asides about the business and practice of pub-ownership and, obviously, about beer.

So, in our post of last week
, there was a consensus at that time amongst the people who were interested, that the Korean venture, MIGA
, would be tomorrow. Wednesday. (Incidentally, I note that it already warrants a mention in Time Out's recent 'Cheap Eats' feature,* though that is likely due to the proximity to TO's offices as much as anything.)
Is that still the case? Are we still on for it?
Obviously if a postponement was desired by enough of the participants, this could be arranged, but otherwise I am still perfectly 'up for it'.EDIT:
So that's Miga, 29 Goodge Street, W1T 2PP
. At 12:30pm, Wed 19 November.
* That Time Out mention:
"We like this simple new Korean restaurant for its wholesome lunch menu with dishes that warm the belly and set you up for an afternoon at the coalface. Lunch deals start at £6 and include miso soup."

PDL Future Developments
Quick message, as I thought you might be interesting in upcoming PDL events.
1. Next week, there is a suggestion of visiting Miga
, a Korean restaurant on Goodge St, for lunch. It used to be the fabled Kopanese, but Kopanese cuisine has had its day, and is no longer with us. Anyway, Korean is still good, eh? Day hasn't been set, but how are people for Wed or Thu? (I can't do Friday, but you know, it's up to the group etc.)
and I are going for lunch at 12:30pm on Thu 27 November to The Gunmakers
pub in Clerkenwell. It's a different area from usual, and I frankly recognise it may not suit anyone who's on this list, but I thought it only polite to invite y'all. You're welcome to come.

lunch tomorrow London Bridge - 23rd Sept.
I think this might be just me and Mel, but I made a decision! Let's go to Wagamama - this one on Clink St
- for 1pm? Is that okay?
Also: there might be some 2-for-1 vouchers on This Here Internet but I can't print from home - Mel, do you wanna give it a try? I shall go off and find the URL.
ETA: I can't find the voucher anywhere, maybe it expired? Dang.

not really paydaylunch time, but...
Hallo, I have got to take my bike to the shop on 23rd (that be next week Tues) and will be in the London Bridge area for a while - does anyone fancy a lunch / cuppa tea / whatevs?

Moiza, Goodge Street, this Friday
OK! Payday Lunch! I've missed the last two because of various business or illness or what have you. But no more
! I propose a trip to Moiza on Goodge Street (nearer the TCR end), a Kopanese
(Korean and Japanese) restaurant that some of us have been eyeing up for quite a while now.
12.30. Friday. Be there
. That's Moiza, 29 Goodge Street, W1T 2PP.
Of course, seeing as I'm the one suggesting it, I probably will end up not being able to make it because a piano will fall on my head or something, but fingers crossed eh.
I am wondering if they added nasi goreng* etc, then they could call themselves "Kopanesian"... perhaps we should suggest it. No limits to fusion!
*I sort of don't know any more Indonesian foods :(
Thursday, August 28th, 2008
As hinted at last week, I hope people are still keen for okonomiyaki (that's PANCAKES, Japanese style) at Abeno
tomorrow, Friday 29 August.
It's on Museum Street, just off Bloomsbury Way at the end of New Oxford Street, see the link to their website, which also has menus.
It'll be GOOD. Last time we went was ace. I suggest 12:30pm meet-up, first person there grabs a table.

Amended PDL Plans for Friday
So I had suggested Moiza KOPANESE restaurant for tomorrow's paydaylunch (PDL), but alas atommickbrane
cannot make it and that was a place she nominated.
Therefore, as an alternative venue I suggest dim sum at Leong's Legend(s)
Taiwanese place on Macclesfield St, near the De Hems pub.
Friday 22 August, meet outside at 1pm. nou
, do you think we need to book?
PS I was also going to suggest Dehesa
in Soho, but I looked at the menu, and amazing though it looks, seems a bit pricy for lunch.
PPS Heads-up warning for those not following the comments, but PDL will probably be at Abeno
next Friday, after more people have been paid. (My payday is today, though, hence this week's plans.)
